With understanding we create an environment in our discussions where our clients take back the power of their own lives. Understanding our values, beliefs, attitudes and assumptions about ourselves, others and the world is empowering in and of itself.
Understanding in this way is a form of change, a credible form of change that does not require behavioural change or cognitive shifts but possession of broader explored senses of understanding is empowering and helps with self-confidence and self-esteem and courage to be more engaged in the world.
By understanding our responses to difficulties, difficulties are not eliminated but we empowered to have the courage to be with them, acknowledge them and it is a sign of strength and empowerment to be able to face our insecurities and frailties rather than try to tough them out.
A sense of empowerment means we feel less burdened by the world and empowered to look further at our own values, beliefs and attitudes and to notice what is important about them to us.
