Dr Christopher Buckingham is a cognitive scientist specialising in building computational models of psychological classification and decision making. He has formal qualifications in both psychology (BSc) and computing (PhD), which have enabled him to program intelligent knowledge-based systems that provide expert advice in various diverse areas.
For the last ten years, he has been working on risks associated with mental-health problems. He is the co-developer of the Galatean Risk Screening Tool, GRiST (www.egrist.org), which is a web-based decision support system for helping assessors identify, understand, and manage risks. GRiST is used in a number of NHS Trusts and mental-health organisations and a new project, GRaCE-AGE, is extending its reach into supporting older adults in the community. Dr Buckingham leads the project in his role as Reader in Computer Science at Aston University.
